POSITION: EMERGENCY CARE TECHNICIAN (ECT)

The MVA Fund invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to join its workforce in the following position:

Position: Emergency Care Technician (ECT) (Patterson C3)
Duty Station: Otjiwarongo Service Centre


Purpose of this position: Ensure emergency patient care management, transport injured patients to appropriate medical facilities and render pre-hospital emergency medical rescue service. Ensure effective coordination with relevant stakeholders i.e. Municipalities, Ministry of Health and Social Services and Ministry of Safety and Security on the provision of pre-hospital care to those injured in crashes.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Attend to all emergencies and medical calls with minimal delay
  • Liaise with the MVA Fund Call Centre to provide information needed for crash and casualty management
  • Advice and guide Emergency Care Practitioners (BLS & ILS) on clinical decisions and provide patient management on the scene
  • Liaise with Hospital Case Managers to ensure smooth hospital case management
  • Ensure thorough and accurate completion of patient report forms for submission and record keeping
  • Compile and produce weekly and monthly crash and medical emergency reports

Competencies and Skills:

  • National Higher Certificate in Emergency Care Technician (ECT) or Advance qualification in Health Science
  • Minimum one-year experience in the field of emergency care
  • Valid Code C1E driver’s license with valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP)
  • Knowledge of emergency management plan
  • Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia
  • Ability to work in a high demanding and fast paced environment
