CEU Awarded an Excellence Award at IPM

CEU representing NUST participated in the panel discussion on a Case Study of the National Internship project together with UNAM, IUM, NUST, NTA representatives at the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) national conference under the theme: “Relentless Leadership”. Subsequent to the conference, CEU was awarded an “HR Centre for Excellence” award for leading and managing a well-structured Cooperative Education unit and for the good coordination of WIL placements and industry engagement.

Industry Recognition Breakfast Theme “Appreciating Partnerships”

CEU acknowledged and appreciated the industry partners for hosting NUST students for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements over the period of three years (2017, 2018 and 2019). Among the corporates who placed students for WIL, winners were identified in three categories as follows: placement across all Faculties, Faculty specific placements and students’ placement programme initiator. The 1st place award category placement across all faculties was awarded to the Ministry of Health and Social Sciences with the placement number of 348 followed by the City of Windhoek with 245 placement number and MVA Fund with 179. Industry Mentorship workshop

CEU collaborated with Mercy HR & Psychometrics to capacitate industry mentors with mentorship and coaching techniques through a series of workshops. About twenty five (25) Industry mentors, inclusive three (3) WIL Coordinators, two (2) staff members from NUST Human Resources department and four (4) CEU staff members attended the workshops and were capacitated with tools to perform the mentorship function during WIL/Internship placement to ensure that students are effectively mentored during WIL placements.

JICA continues to support Namibia

The Employability Improvement Program (EIP) training took place on 15th March 2019 in Windhoek at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). The program was organized by NUST and JICA, they invited lecturers from the Vaal University of Technology and Durban University of Technology of South Africa to assist in the training.

This was the first EIP training for the year, which involved about 30 students from various faculties for 3 days.

The Polytechnic expands Community Engagement efforts
